CSR Communication : Exploring European cross-national differences and tendencies

In order to understand current practices in Europe, IE School of Communication, Fondazione Università IULM, Judge Business School and Global Allianc investigated the top 251 companies (in terms of highest revenues) in 11 industries from six European countries-namely, Spain, France, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Denmark, and Italy.
They analyzed what is communicated using a content analysis of companies' social reports (if available), CSR content within companies' websites, social advertising, and presence on web 2.0 related to CSR issues.
They also interviewed 69 communication or CSR managers within these same companies about their opinions on risks and opportunities in communicating CSR.
The study was published in 2010.

European Sustainability reports 2010

"European guide to best practice reporting on sustainability" was realised by Radley Yeldar in 2010. They looked at all the companies within the FTSE Eurotop 100 index from the FTSE European Index Series.
They looked for reports that fulfilled the following criteria:
- there was scope to the content, covering a fair share of the full group, not just one country or business unit
- all sustainability issues were commented on, not just community or environment for instance
- there was a clear indication of the time period they covered.
The results of the study are published on a Website.
