In this report, we assess current perceptions and activities around ESG integration and provide specific recommendations to companies and investors. This report was written by Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) in September 2009. It is based on a literature review, as well as interviews with BSR members and individuals from a range of investor firms, research providers, and industry experts listed in the appendix.

Thousands of organizations from across the world's major economies measure and disclose their greenhouse gas emissions and climate change strategies through CDP. The CDP puts this information at the heart of financial and policy decision-making.

This review of the current state of practices in the area of corporate social responsibility (CSR) among the world's 100 largest TNCs and responsible investment (RI) among the 100 largest institutional investors reveals a number of important insights.

In September 2010 GES Investment Services has published an ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) comparison on blue chip indexes in all major European countries including New Europe. A total of 746 companies have been assessed according to GES Risk Rating criteria. The study shows the average performance of a company on each of the indexes in this study. It presents the result for the three E, S and G pillars separately and jointly. The document starts with New Europe and after that it incorporates rest of Europe to find out how New Europe performs compared to major indexes in Europe.

Since 2003, Eurosif has published studies on European Institutional SRI across these countries.
The 2010 European SRI Study highlights the scale of the European SRI Market as well as European and National trends across nineteen countries, including for the first time the Baltic States, Poland, Greece and Cyprus.

Forética published a document about SRI in 2010 intituled "Investing in Values". This document presents SRI in Europe and more especially in Spain.
