About OECD

OECD brings together the governments of countries committed to democracy and the market economy from around the world to support sustainable economic growth, boost employment, raise living standards, maintain financial stability, assist other countries' economic development and contribute to growth in world trade.
The Organisation provides a setting where governments compare policy experiences, seek answers to common problems, identify good practice and coordinate domestic and international policies.
In particular, OECD has been one of the world's largest and most reliable sources of comparable statistics and economic and social data. As well as collecting data, OECD monitors trends, analyses and forecasts economic developments and researches social changes or evolving patterns in trade, environment, agriculture, technology, taxation and more.

The OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises

The OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises were drawn up in the 1970s, a decade during which the activities of corporations became a topic of discussion among international organisations. They provide a specific guidance for corporate activity to encourage foreign  investment while meeting sustainable development aspects. This initiative arises from the "OECD Declaration and Decisions on International Investment and Multinational Enterprises", which establishes a set of non-biding recommandations adressed by governments to multinational enterprises operating in or from adhering countries.

The Guidelines were updated in 2011 for the fourth time since they were first adopted in 1976.

Supply Chains and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises

This paper on “Supply Chains and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises” was commissioned from the corporate responsibility and consulting firm Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) as background information for the 2010 Corporate Responsibility Roundtable’s session on supply chains
The purpose of this paper is to provide context and recommendations for discussion at the roundtable on corporate responsibility. This seminar will help clarify and develop appropriate guidance on the application of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises (the Guidelines) to supply chain relationships in the context of the update that adhering governments have agreed to undertake in 2010-2011.
